I didn’t really have a moment where I thought ‘right this is it I’m going to be an artist’, it just kind of happened. I was in the right place at the right time when I met Paul and Ross and they decided that I was going to be the singer. And the rest is history!
02) What were you doing before becoming Morcheeba’s front-woman?

I studied fashion. I went to the London College of Fashion and studied fashion design, embroidery and textiles. I wanted to be a fashion designer. I went on to make ballroom gowns.,the sort for ballroom dancing with all the sequins and lace and feathers. I enjoyed for a short while.
03) How was the beginning of your career?

It was an exciting time when I first started out in Morcheeba. I hadn’t really travelled that much. The farthest I had been was France and Greece on school trip. So it was really really exciting to be travelling to America and all around Europe. Although, at the same time, I was absolutely petrified! I was super shy in the early days.
04) What was the motivation behind your first solo album? Where you in need of something different to Morcheeba? or did you simply see it as a natural evolutionary step in your career?

2003 was the end of Morcheeba for me, I went my separate way from the brothers. We weren’t very happy together and so was time to take a break. I went out to America and met with Daniel Lanois (Bob Dylan, U2) and Pat Leonard (Madonna ) and that’s when I started my first solo album which is called Mind How You Go.
05) And now, a fourth solo album! Tell us a bit about “In a Low Light” please (you yourself said on twitter “my fourth album is highly recommended for listeners of BeatLounge.”)

The concept for In A Low Light was I wanted to make an album that was really mellow and relaxing, something that would help me sleep, something that would help me to to meditate and feel calm.
06) What was the motivation behind using PledgeMusic and will we see a Worldwide release on all major stores as well?

The release of in the lowlight with pledge music has been going well. They are distributing physical copies of the album. I signed 500 vinyls and 1000 CDs which was quite a challenge but something I actually quite enjoyed. So people can go on to pledgemusic.com/skye and order their special signed copy of the album. Later it will be released digitally through a Kobolt.
07) I have looping in my mind your “Call Me” cover, very cool and fun. We know that you’ve also done Duran Duran and even Gorillaz covers live. Which artists does Skye Edwards admire?
My favourite singers…? I absolutely love Shirley Bassey, Frank Sinatra, Sade and John Martyn. They’re my favourite singers of all time.
08) We’ve read out there that you yourself handle your social media network, is this true?
Yes it’s true, I do run my own and Twitter page and my own Facebook page.
09) We’ve released “Gimme Your Love” on our LOUNGESTYLE VOL 02 compilation, we’d also love to have a Skye Edwards track someday among our discography … any thoughts?

I’d be thrilled if you would have one of my songs on your Lounge Style compilation so yeah sure take your pick.
10) We know that you love sewing! How does this relate to your music creative process, if at all?

It’s true I love sewing. As I mentioned earlier, I come from a fashion background, it’s what I studied and I really enjoy making my own clothes for the stage.
I recently made my daughters prom dress which almost killed me! haha. It was one of the most stressful things I’ve ever had to do! Now she loves the dress so much that she says that she would get married in it! So, yeah I really love making clothes it’s nice to wear something that’s a little bit different from what you find in the shops.
11) Our audience loves your music, any message for them?
