INTERVIEW
01. Tell us a bit about MAYD: where are you from, what you do and how long have you been in the Music Industry?
I’m from Valladolid, Spain. I have been making music for a little while now, but I’ve been in the music industry for about six years and playing in local and national clubs.
02. How do you see the electronic music scene today, as opposed to the one year ago or even a decade ago?
I think that electronic music scene is in one of its best moments. Now, all kinds of music have a huge amount of followers and the music is really awesome. Even, like a DJ, you can be free to play any kind of electronic music in a session and people will support you!
03. What’s it like being an electronic music producer in Spain? Pros and cons?
Being a music producer in Spain is hard because the industry is not so big. Most of the DJs are practically unknown for the vast majority of people. Pros: You can always improve your way. Cons: Things that I’ve already said and the lack of electronic music culture.
04. Do you have any artists with whom you would like to work with and why?
Yes of course! There are a lot of artists I would like to collaborate with such as Dzeko & Torres, Stadiumx, Paris Blohm, Lush & Simon. I really like their music.
05. Do you have any selection process/method when selecting tracks for your live gigs? And if so, how does it work?
I actually don’t. I always select the music I feel I can work better with and most important, I select music that I love.
06. Tell us about your upcoming live dates, if any?
We are working on some possible upcoming dates.
07. Vinyl, cassette, CD’s…and now MP3’s. Every few years the industry gives us a new format, but which one is your favorite, and why?
MP3’s. Surely, I grew up recording hundreds of CD’s and it was too boring. Now, you can have thousands of tracks on a USB. It’s easier, and it’s better for the audience.
08. What’s coming up for MAYD, any upcoming surprises that you’d like to share with us?
Yeah, I have some tracks finished, but I can’t tell you anything! You will have to wait and see!
09. Three words that describe MAYD?
Ambitious, reserved and demanding.
10. Any message that you’d like to leave for our audience?
Stay tuned! Big things coming!
