INTERVIEW
First of all, congrats on your first 100 Episodes!
01. How do you feel about this achievement?
It is like having cycled 100km without being tired at all, but just wanting to go on and on and on to see where you’ll end up. We are so happy and satisfied, and at the same time we can’t stop imagining how great the next 100 episodes will be.
02. How do you see Grand Tour today compared to the first episodes?
Grand Tour has become for Marco and I (Stefano) part of our artistic life, it’s a channel to share our passion with everyone. In the beginning we used to be worried whether something would fit a radio audience, which is often so different from a dancefloor, but now everything is just as natural as cooking spaghetti! Sometimes we find out some new tune and the first thing that comes into our mind is “I have to play this on the next Grand Tour!”.
03. Do you think that this achievement could benefit or change your careers in any way?
More than the achievement itself, it’s the way that we walked (or, well, cycled) to get here, the people we met, and the music we found and shared. We have professionally and artistically grown a lot in these years because of Grand Tour, and becoming a part of the BeatLounge universe was an important part of it.
And sure, 100 is a great number but we’ll love Episode 101 just as well, if not more, and then 102, and 103…There’s not too much time to celebrate, show must go on!
04. Do you think you’ll be still mixing Grand Tour for a long time?
As long as you’ll stand us! ;) We have so many people, artists, deejays we’d love to host, some of them are famous and some are “little gems” we found during our journeys…we can’t think of stopping anytime soon, there’s too much to hear and too much to share.
05. Could you define Grand Tour in one word?
I would say *community*, that’s what the show is for us, or at least we’d like it to be like that. I think about it as when you meet with your friends to share with them your new records, you sit in the living room and chill drinking a tea (or a beer) and dance together, or have a chat at the record store. And every time you meet new friends and discover some new music. We don’t want to be fashion or trendy or anything like that, nor take ourselves too seriously. We want to be cozy .. and groovy!
06. In addition to working as a producers duo, each of you have personal projects, please talk to our audience a little bit about this.
Yes, we’re definitely a busy duo and busy individuals as well. During the last few years Marco has been working on creating a new, great clubbing project in Southeast Asia, and that’s really gaining lots of momentum right now. He’s been playing in places that look like heaven on Earth! And while he takes the Bicycle Corporation name around, I… well, right now I’m busy fighting with my PhD, but every spare second is spent with my hands on keyboards and synths, either for Bicycle Corporation’s new tunes or for my more intimate tracks as 6884. Also, we both are constantly looking for kittens to cuddle, if that counts as personal projects too.
I think having our “own things” on the side, and the geographical distance now between Marco and I, makes us much more interesting as a duo.
07. What can we expect from Bicycle Corporation in the future?
Some new music, for sure: we have some releases being finalized for great labels all across the world, from Detroit to Taiwan… Plus lots of new gigs, and not only for Marco – we are looking forward to traveling together again, things always go crazy when you put us together behind a mixer!
08. Would you like to send a message to your listeners at BeatLounge Radio?
As for the famous “tree that falls in the forest with nobody that hears it”, if a dj plays and nobody listens to him, does he make any sound?.. This means: our show would have no purpose without all you listeners, your ears and your everything else on the other side enjoying it. You can’t imagine how happy we are by seeing that, even if we are thousands of kilometers apart from our listeners, there is some great feedback from them.
We all are another proof that music unites people, and boy isn’t it great… <3
